Meet TASSEL Transition's Supervisor of Special Services

I come to Eden Prairie Schools from District 196, Rosemount-Apple Valley-Eagan, as a teacher on special assignment for student supports and school social worker. Before joining District 196 in 2020, I held a variety of roles including director of special education at Hiawatha Academies, student services/learning supports specialist in Bloomington Public Schools, and special education social worker in both Bloomington and Wayzata public schools. I also enjoy volunteering as the president of the Minnesota School Social Workers Association.

As we embark on the new school year, I have several goals that I'd like to share with you. Firstly, I am deeply committed to fostering a community characterized by kindness, inclusivity, and a positive outlook. It is paramount to me that every student feels a strong sense of belonging, safety, and support from the moment they step into our buildings or join us online.

Secondly, I am dedicated to enhancing the work of our special services through clear, open communication, effective teamwork, and collaborative efforts. Our approach emphasizes shared decision-making and teamwork, ensuring that we collaborate closely with students, parents, and the broader community to uphold our students' educational goals and foster their growth.

Thirdly, I strongly believe that student voice lies at the core of our program. Each of our students possesses dreams and aspirations that deserve recognition and nurturing. Building meaningful relationships among staff, students, families, and community members is pivotal.
