In this hands-on course, students will have the opportunity to design and build a variety of projects, including desks, entertainment centers, chests of drawers, and cedar chests. The choice is yours! What do you want to learn to build? 

This course is ideal for students interested in woodworking, construction, cabinetry, or architecture careers. Alongside practical skills, students will learn to create a plan of procedure, develop a bill of materials, estimate costs, and create flow charts for production and deadlines.

Students will explore advanced cabinetry processes such as crown molding, base cabinets, laminate countertops, dovetail drawers, cabinet hardware, and more. Additionally, this course emphasizes community service, as students will engage in projects that support local organizations, fostering a sense of responsibility and connection to the community.

Get ready to reach for the horizon! In this advanced course, you will be provided the runway for your aviation dream to take flight. Continue to refine your aviation professionalism skills through hands-on activities and challenges where you will learn to think and communicate like a pilot as you master flight of virtual aircraft using state of the art flight simulation and return to the sky to log a cross country flight with our partners at Flying Cloud Airport. This course will prepare you to succeed on the FAA’s Private Pilot Knowledge Exam and give you the opportunity to showcase your flight skills through planning and executing a VFR cross country flight in the full motion Redbird simulator. Throughout the course, you’ll engage with aviation professionals via immersive site visits, mentorship from industry experts, and guest instructors. Prepare to take your passion for aviation to new heights!

Students will engage in research on an issue that they are passionate about. They will analyze the causes and effects of the issue, as well as current and historical efforts to disrupt or target this issue. Students will use this information to generate their own project proposal to address their selected issue within their community. Successful completion of the course will require implementation of their project proposal that is grounded in research, community-centered, and includes actionably crowd-sourced.

Are you looking to create a documentary film? Build out a fantasy world in clay? Write your own play or musical score? Design and sew cosplay costumes? Use the creative communication skills you have acquired through your communication and art courses at EPHS and apply them to explore a theme or research topic of your choice. The Communication and Arts Capstone will empower you to merge all of your interests from multiple subjects into one project, using real world problem solving skills to build connections across disciplines. Staff and community members will support you in taking the skills you already have to new heights to make your idea come to life. At the end of the year, students will present their project at the Capstone Exhibition.

Step into the future of food, flavor, and innovation with the ProStart Culinary Capstone. In this advanced course, students take their culinary skills to the next level by designing, preparing, and presenting original dishes and hospitality projects that reflect professional restaurant standards. Working in teams, students plan menus, manage food costs, practice advanced cooking techniques, and develop leadership and teamwork skills that are essential in the foodservice industry. Whether your goal is to compete in ProStart events, launch a career in culinary arts, or simply master the art of cooking, this course gives you the real-world experience you need. Students may have opportunities to collaborate with local chefs, explore food entrepreneurship, and earn industry-recognized certifications along the way.

This course provides an overview of the education profession and the U.S. educational system, including historical development, social foundations and educational institutions. Other topics include current theories, trends and issues in education and the community, certification standards, roles and responsibilities of teachers, learners, and other school personnel. Every student must complete a 25-hour field experience in an area school.

Students will also be introduced to core concepts and approaches to multicultural education including issues related to student, family, and community diversity based on culture, language, race, class, gender, sexual identity, and disability. Issues discourses, hierarchy of education with regards to privilege, equity and access to high quality education are topics that will be addressed. Students will use knowledge of their life experiences and those of diverse students in urban and rural public schools and learn culturally and linguistically responsive classroom strategies. Emphasis is placed on demonstrating the multicultural competence required of all successful teachers working with today’s diverse youth. Field experience hours are part of the course requirements.

Examples: Design & create a board game, research and develop a candy bar, and propose a new franchise business for the local community. Develop a product or service business with your team and pitch your plan to investors in the Shark Tank! Innovation helps people create and improve processes, products, services, and experiences for their customers, clients or patients. Guest speakers will share their experience using innovative thinking to solve problems in their daily lives. Whether your career path is in engineering, education, healthcare, political science, business, or in the trades, an innovative mindset is critical for your success! This course meets one of the prerequisites for the Entrepreneurship Capstone

As the capstone course in the Finance Pathway, students will apply financial and business concepts developed in earlier courses to understand how organizations track, analyze, and communicate their financial performance. Through case studies and projects, students will think and act like professionals in the field of accounting. They will explore the fundamental accounting process, financial statement preparation, and analysis with an emphasis on using accounting data to make informed business decisions and prepare for future coursework or entry-level opportunities in finance, business, or accounting. This is a concurrent enrollment course with MSU Mankato: ACCT 200 – Financial Accounting, a 3-credit college-level course. *Note: The prerequisites listed above will apply to students in the graduating class of 2029 and beyond.

Expand your knowledge from AP CS Java and enter the world of iOS.  Learn the fundamentals of mobile app development from the ground up using Apple’s native language of Swift and build an app with the goal of publishing to the Apple App Store!  Students will learn Xcode and Swift, how to use AI, libraries, and databases effectively, and how to work effectively as part of an app development team. Students successful in the course will publish an app to the App Store by the end of the course!

Join our marketing team! As a member of our in-house marketing agency, you will collaborate with a local business to develop a marketing campaign that achieves business objectives. In this 2-term, capstone course, you will learn how to develop effective surveys, conduct focus groups and interviews, to examine consumer behavior and apply these skills to identify opportunities and validate proposed strategies. Learn how to utilize customer data to support business decision making and improve customer experience. Teams will prepare and conduct client meetings to gain approval and determine next steps executing your marketing plan. Completion of the Google Analytics Beginner course will prepare you for the official Google Analytics individual certification exam. Dive deep into the fascinating world of engineering with the Capstone Course for the Engineering Pathway, Principles of Engineering (POE)! This dynamic and challenging program is designed to ignite your passion for problem-solving and innovation while providing a solid foundation in engineering concepts. This course bridges the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application, preparing you for future success in engineering fields. Students will participate in industrial tours, job shadowing, guest speakers, and a capstone project in which they will apply their knowledge from Intro to Engineering Design, Metal Fabrication and Welding, and Robotics & Automation. This course offers you the opportunity to earn 3 elective university credits.

Science Research and Design is a course that will allow students to explore a science topic of their interest in depth. The course will involve rigorous scientific study from the identification of a problem, investigation design, data collection, data analysis, and conclusions drawn from the research. During the research and experimental process, the student will be paired with a mentor from their area of research. Using an inquiry framework, students practice reading and analyzing articles, research studies, and other background sources while learning to synthesize information from these multiple sources. A scientific poster sharing session highlighting their research will be conducted at the end of the course.
