Health Room
Health Services staff are available during the school day to support student health needs. If a student becomes ill or injured, first aid and illness management will be provided. 911 will be called for serious illness or injury.

Medication at School: Medication is administered in collaboration with the parent/guardian and under the direction of the student’s medical provider. All medication, including over-the-counter medication, must be secured in the Health Room unless otherwise arranged with the Licensed School Nurse. A parent/guardian’s written permission and a medical provider order are required. Medication must be in its original container and labeled appropriately.

Health & Emergency Forms: Forms are available on our Health Services website. Please ensure emergency contact names and phone numbers are current and accurate in the Campus Parent Portal.

Back-to-School Health Services: Health Room staff will be available during our Back-to-School events on September 1 from 4–8 p.m. and September 3 from 4–8 p.m. for medication drop-off, to meet the Health Services team, and to answer questions.

CMS Mornings
CMS Mornings is our before-school program, offered Monday–Friday from 7:00–9:15 a.m. To register or learn more, visit our CMS Mornings website or call 952-975-6953.

Please note: Students may not enter the building before 9:05 a.m. unless they have a signed pass from a teacher or coach. If a student needs to arrive before 9:05 a.m., they must be enrolled in CMS Mornings.

First Day of School Information

6 Grade Students
Tuesday, September 8 marks the first day of the 2026–27 school year for sixth graders only. Sixth graders will have the building to themselves, helping ease their transition into middle school. All staff will be present to support students as they adjust to their new eight-period schedule.

7 and 8 Grade Students
Wednesday, September 9 is the first day of school for seventh and eighth graders. All students will be present.

Student Handbook

The 2026–27 CMS Student Handbook will be updated and posted on our website before the new school year starts. Until then, you can find last year’s Student Handbook available on our website.

Once the updated handbook is available, please take a moment to review it with your student. The handbook outlines important policies, procedures, and guidelines at Central Middle School.

Attendance, Late Arrivals & Early Departures

To report an absence, please submit it through the Campus Parent Portal by selecting “Absence Requests” at the bottom of the screen, or call the attendance line at 952-975-7301. Please include your student’s name, grade, and reason for the absence.

Absences can only be excused if they are reported to the attendance clerk.

Arriving Late / Leaving Early

If your student will be arriving late or leaving early, please submit the request through the Campus Parent Portal or call the attendance line.

• Late Arrivals: When students enter through Door 1, they must use their student iPad to complete the Late Arrivals form by scanning the QR code. This form must be completed even if the absence has already been reported. This helps verify the student’s actual arrival time.

• Early Departures: Students will receive a SmartPass on their iPad to leave class and exit through Door 1. Please allow at least 5 minutes for students to leave class, gather their belongings, and exit the building. Important: For early departures, please provide at least two hours’ notice to help avoid delays.

• Last-Minute Pick-Ups: For pick-ups requested less than two hours before the pick-up time, please park and enter Central Middle School through Door 1 with your cell phone. Scan the QR code at the Welcome Desk and complete the form. The receptionist will then call your student out of class. Please note: Last-minute pick-ups may take additional time.

Bus Transportation

Bus assignments will be emailed by the Transportation Department in late August.

If your student enrolls after the start of the school year, you will receive an email with busing information if you selected yes for transportation on your online registration form.

CMS School Store

• September 2026: CMS store will be open everyday, M-F 
• October 2026 - May 2027:  CMS store will be open twice a week, Tuesdays and Thursdays
• Hours: 11 a.m.- 1 p.m.
