What are Advanced Placement (AP) Exams?
Advanced Placement (AP) exams are standardized tests offered by the College Board that allow high school students to earn college credit by demonstrating their knowledge in various subjects. AP courses are open to 9th-12th grade students, and students can choose to take the associated exam or not at the end of the year. Eden Prairie Schools pays for a student’s first AP exam, which is referred to as the "First AP Free Program."
AP exams are scored on a scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being the highest score possible, indicating a strong mastery of the subject. Colleges may offer credit to students who score 4s or 5s on AP exams.
