Advanced Placement (AP) Program

At Eden Prairie High School, we believe every student should have the opportunity to experience college-level learning before graduation. Through the College Board’s Advanced Placement (AP) Program, students can challenge themselves with rigorous coursework while also gaining the opportunity to earn college credit or place into higher-level college courses. AP courses not only prepare students for the academic expectations of college, but also build critical thinking, problem-solving, and time management skills that serve them well beyond high school.
AP courses are designed by the College Board to mirror the rigor and expectations of introductory college classes. Each course follows a nationally developed curriculum and concludes with an AP exam in May. Many colleges and universities award credit, advanced placement, or both based on students’ exam scores, which can save families time and money on college tuition. Beyond the potential for college credit, AP courses give students the chance to explore subjects in greater depth, strengthen academic skills, and demonstrate their commitment to challenging themselves on college and scholarship applications.
